Wa’alaikumussalam.
According to the mashhur, a woman must cover her whole body, including the face and hands. The second opinion in the madhhab does not make covering the face and hands obligatory. This view was chosen by Qadi Abu Ya’la and defended by Imam Mardawi. The fatwa today is upon this second view according to most jurists around the world, because of the need and the fact that this is the dresscode of most women today. Covering the face nonetheless remains at least recommended.
In either case, clothing must be loose and not see through.
