Qadi al-Qudat, Ahmed ibn al-Hasan ibn Abdillah ibn Abi ‘Umar al-Dimashqi al-Hanbali, better known as ibn Qadi al-Jabal [693 – 771 AH] was one of the leading Hanbali jurists. His lineage goes back to Amir al-Mu’minin, Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him).
He is the author of al-Fa’iq; one of the relied upon books of the Hanbali madhhab that later Hanbali scholars refer to a lot. He studied with Shaykhu-l Islam ibn Taymiyyah for some time, and by his early thirties, he was given permission to give Fatwa by him.
