Hamza b. ‘Amr al-Aslami (r) said:
“Oh Messenger of Allah, I find myself strong enough to fast when travelling; am I blameworthy?”
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) replied:
“It is a concession from Allah; if one takes it (the concession) then that is good, and if he fasts then there is no blame upon him.” [Muslim]
Al-Majd (r) said: “There is a strong indication in this (report) that breaking the fast (for the traveller) is better (than fasting).”
This is the Madhhab of Ahmad, al-Awza’i and Ishaq, and is narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas and Ibn ‘Umar.
