❝al-Haitham b. Jamil (r) said the he heard Sharik (r) say that:
“Every nation will continue to have a ‘Hujjah’ who will be from their own time and al-Fudayl b. ‘Iyad (r) is a Hujjah for the people of his time.”
Then a young boy from al-Haitham’s class got up to leave and when he disappeared from sight al-Haitham said,
‘If this boy lives, he will be the Hujjah for the people of his time.’
‘Who was that boy?’ they asked.
He said, ‘Ahmad b. Hanbal (r).’❞
